Orchestration

The layer that coordinates multiple agents or steps toward an outcome — sequencing, branching, retry, and the handling of partial failure.

Why it matters

Orchestration topology is a governance property, not an engineering preference. An explicit state graph can be pointed at: you can name the node where a decision was taken and the transition that permitted it. Free-form conversational loops cannot, which makes them substantially harder to review and effectively impossible to reconstruct. Choose the topology before choosing the framework.

Relationships

Typed edges into the rest of the ontology. These are what make the canon traversable rather than merely readable.
