Transformation
The conversion of raw data into analysis-ready form — cleaning, joining, aggregating, deriving — expressed as code and ideally versioned and tested.
Why it matters
Versioned, tested transformations are the difference between a reproducible backtest and an unfalsifiable one. Where transformation logic lives in notebooks or ad hoc scripts, no result is defensible, because the thing that produced it cannot be identified afterward.
Relationships
Typed edges into the rest of the ontology. These are what make the canon traversable rather than merely readable.
